6/28/2023 0 Comments The english wife by lauren willig![]() ![]() ![]() Willig employs a framing device of Eloise, the grad student in current times who is researching all of the Pink Carnation’s shenanigans for her master thesis, and her romance with Colin, a descendent of the Carnation. Instead – as many a romance novel series does, especially those of the historical romance/Regency persuasion – she takes a side character from the previous novel and elevates them to the primary couple in the next book, and so on and so forth.Īnd while that’s all going on, Ms. ![]() And I know I’ve reviewed the first three books in that series (so I’m not going to rehash them here – just go back and read the reviews if you can’t remember), and really, the only problem I have with the series is that she never ever (to my knowledge) revisits the couple from the first book. The English Wife is the first novel I’ve read by Lauren Willig that was not part of her Pink Carnation series. ![]()
